Guitar

Picking up the guitar at the age of 12, Steve quickly learned to play by ear from the guitar heroes of the 70's: Jimmy Page, Brian May, Michael Schenker, Ronnie Montrose, Pat Travers and more. After seeing Led Zeppelin at one of their final US concerts in 1977, he became a die-hard student of the Jimmy Page guitar technique. He remembers, "As soon as I got home from the show, I ran to get my guitar and figured out how to play 'Over The Hills & Far Away' right then!"

Steve was a pioneer of the Southern CA Tribute Band scene with "Sheer Heart Attack - A Royal Tribute to Queen," which debuted in 1993, and was featured in the indie documentary, 'Tribute - The Movie.'

Steve became well-known from the success of "Sheer Heart Attack," and for the many other tribute bands he's been involved in, including "Which One's Pink?" (Pink Floyd), "Fireball" (Deep Purple), "Visions" (Rush), and "Led Zepagain" (Led Zeppelin).

Steve is currently a member of the acclaimed Led Zeppelin tribute band, "Zeppelin USA" with fellow Windborne artist, singer Brody Dolyniuk, as well as the touring Laser Spectacular shows, "Shine On" (the music of Pink Floyd) and "British Rock Royalty" (the music of Pink Floyd, The Who, Queen and Led Zeppelin).

What equipment/instruments do you use on the shows?
"Gibson Les Paul Standard, Guild Brian May guitar for the Queen show.
I've tried several different methods of going direct, including a POD HD500 and a QuilterTone Block 200. TC Electronics Nova Drive for the Zep show, and a Wampler Ace Thirty (now the Thirty Something) pedal for the Brian May tone.

Who are some of your musical influences:
All the 70's rock greats! Jimmy Page, Brian May, Peter Frampton, Pete Townshend, etc, etc... And a few more recent guitar players.

Tell us about the Windborne Music shows and how they impact you as a musician:
This is my favorite music, and the reason I started playing guitar in the first place. It's an honor to be able to present it with a full orchestra, and alongside such spectacular musicians. Playing this stuff never gets old!

What's on your IPod?:
As an avid music fan, my iPod is constantly rotating my favorite Classic Rock and Progressive Rock, along with guitar greats like Eric Johnson and Steve Vai, and songwriter stuff, like Elton John, The Beatles and a guy named Kevin Gilbert. I love live music, and like to download live concerts, for the feel of being at a show.
